FAQ
What Is a Psychotherapist?
A psychotherapist is a trained professional who uses talk therapy to help people address emotional challenges and mental health conditions. Through compassionate, nonjudgmental listening and analysis, they assist individuals in uncovering repressed emotions, understanding their psychological needs, and navigating life’s challenges. Psychotherapists support clients in managing their mental health, improving relationships, and enhancing daily functioning at work, school, and beyond to foster a better quality of life.
Professionals who practice psychotherapy can hold various licenses, such as social workers, licensed professional counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and mental health nurse practitioners.
How to Find a Good Therapist Near Me?
Finding a trauma specialist near you can be simple with a few effective steps. Start by searching terms like “therapist near me,” “psychotherapist near me,” or “trauma therapy near me” to identify local experts. You can also seek recommendations from your primary care doctor, friends, or family, who may share valuable insights from their own experiences. Checking online reviews and ratings is another helpful way to gauge a therapist’s reputation and patient satisfaction. Always verify the therapist’s credentials, ensuring they are licensed and accredited by relevant health authorities.

What Is the Difference Between a Psychologist and a Psychotherapist?
While a psychotherapist is a broader term that refers to any licensed professional who uses talk therapy, a psychologist is a mental health professional with a doctoral degree in psychology who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders through various therapeutic methods.
How Do I Know if Therapy Is Right for Me?
Whether you have a diagnosed mental health condition or just feel like you want to improve yourself or your life, therapy may be right for you. Therapy can benefit people who have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or people who feel stuck, burnt out, are noticing relationship patterns that are not serving them anymore, or want to feel more fulfilled in life. Therapy at Evolve is a space to connect to yourself, build better habits that enhance your life, and change negative patterns that could be preventing you from achieving your full potential.
How Do You Match Me With the Right Therapist?
During your complimentary 15-minute consultation with our founder and creator of the Sovereign Body Method, Liz Chelak, LCSW, CCTSI, CRPS, you will have a chance to explain what you are struggling with and what you are looking for. All our therapists are trained in our proprietary structured method, but each therapist has their own unique style and personality. Do You Accept Insurance for Therapy?
Yes, we accept most major insurance plans for therapy. After your consultation, our team can verify your insurance benefits and let you know your coverage information. Just upload a picture of your card, and we will text you with the information you need to determine your cost of therapy before your first session.
How Much Will Therapy Cost With My Insurance?
Your cost of therapy depends on your specific insurance plan and whether you have a copay, deductible, or coinsurance. Contact us by scheduling a consultation online or calling 561-725-7207, and we can verify your coverage so you know what to expect before your first session.
What Should I Expect During My First Therapy Session?
Therapy is a collaborative process, and you don’t need to come prepared to your first session. Your therapist will get a chance to learn about you—what brings you in, your goals, and your preferences. You will not be thrown into intense processing right away. The first session is a chance for you and your therapist to get to know each other, learn what the process will look like, and begin learning about how your nervous system works. Even if you don’t know your goals yet, you can figure that out with the guidance of your counselor.
What Makes Therapy at Evolve Different From Traditional Talk Therapy?
Traditional therapy is a great way for clients to talk about things they have never spoken about, express themselves, and feel validated. At Evolve, we build on that with a structured framework called the Sovereign Body Method, which focuses on helping you gain practical tools to change how your nervous system responds to life events and change patterns that no longer serve you. Our goal is to take therapy beyond insight alone and provide simple-to-use tools and strategies that create change outside the therapy session.
Do You Offer In-Person and Virtual Therapy?
Evolve Therapy & Counseling offers in-person sessions in Brickell and West Palm Beach, as well as virtual therapy for clients throughout Florida.
How Long Will I Need to Be in Therapy?
Therapy at Evolve moves through four phases. The duration of each phase depends on your goals, history, frequency of sessions, and application of the tools and practices outside of session. The purpose of a structured method is not to have you in therapy indefinitely, but to help you develop the tools, resilience, and self-trust to navigate life without depending on your therapist for answers.
